Career
Dr. Tago studied life science at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. From 2011 to 2013, he worked on his master thesis in the field of bioorganic chemistry, particularly in the field of nucleic acid chemistry, at the graduate school of life science and technology at Tokyo Institute of Technology. His research included the development of efficient synthesis routes for artificial nucleic acids using microflow reaction techniques and solid-phase synthesis.
Dr. Tago took part in a one year research exchange at McGill University in Montreal, Canada from 2013 as part of his doctoral study. His research during the exchange focused on the synthesis of an artificial RNA and its application for nucleic acid therapeutics. After continuing his doctoral study at the graduate school of life science and technology in Tokyo, Dr. Tago received his doctoral degree in 2016 with a thesis entitled „Development of efficient synthesis methods of base protected uridine analogues and artificial branch RNA for nucleic acid therapeutics“. His thesis was awarded with the Chorafas prize in 2016. Dr. Tago received a graduate scholarship during his doctoral study funded by an educational program established at Tokyo Institute of Technology.
From 2016, Dr. Tago carried out postdoctoral research at the faculty of chemistry and pharmacy of Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, Germany, where he continued his research on RNA-epigenetics in the field of chemical biology.
Dr. Tago has been with Müller-Boré since 2019 and became a European Patent Attorney in 2023.
