Career

Yuko Matsuya-Todini studied electrical engineering and computer science at Kyushu University, Japan. She completed her degree in 2005 with her Master’s thesis “An Evolutionary Model of Information Sources Rating Process in Decision Making.” During her studies, she had an internship for eight months at an engineering company in Leuven, Belgium within the framework of the Vulcanus in Europe Programme funded by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation.

Yuko Matsuya-Todini started her career as a patent engineer in 2005 at a patent law firm in Tokyo and qualified as a Japanese Patent Attorney in 2009. She worked for domestic and international clients in the electronics and automotive industries on patent prosecution cases in Japan.

From October 2011 to September 2012, Yuko Matsuya-Todini studied intellectual property and competition law at the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition Law). In March 2012, she worked as an intern at a patent law firm in Munich. She completed her LL.M. with a thesis entitled, “Legal Protection of Software – Copyright, Patent and Open Source – Challenges for Business in a Mixed Environment". Yuko Matsuya-Todini became a European Patent Attorney in 2017.
