Career

Dr. Schlapps studied physics at the University of Regensburg focusing on semiconductor, laser, polymer and low temperature physics. He completed his degree in 2005 with a diploma thesis about transport experiments on diluted magnetic semiconductors. Afterwards, Dr. Schlapps worked in a collaborative research center for spin phenomena in reduced dimensions where he was particularly concerned with topics in the field of magnetoelectronics.

In addition to his teaching and research activity, Dr. Schlapps gained experience in the automotive industry. He was involved in the development of electronic control units at Siemens VDO Automotive AG and Continental Automotive GmbH for more than two years.

He received his doctorate in 2010 from the Institute for Experimental and Applied Physics at the chair for micro- and nanostructures of the University of Regensburg. Within the framework of his dissertation “Magnetotransport through nanoscale constrictions in ferromagnetic (Ga,Mn)As films”, Dr. Schlapps successfully realized a ferromagnetic single electron transistor and published his results in influential journals as well as at recognized international conferences in the US, Brazil and Japan.

Dr. Schlapps qualified as a German Patent Attorney in 2014 and as a European Patent Attorney in 2017, after he was trained at Müller-Boré, the German Patent and Trademark Office, and the German Federal Patent Court.

Dr. Schlapps has been with Müller-Boré since 2010.
