Dieter Schaffner

Career

Dieter Schaffner studied Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Regensburg with a focus on the layout and design, as well as the control, of automotive engines. In 1984 he completed his studies within the minimum required study period of eight semesters with the diploma thesis, “Measurement of the unburned Hydrocarbons in the Exhaust Gas of a Spark Ignition Combustion Engine and Analysis of the Relation with the Fuel Consumption”.

After his studies, Dieter Schaffner worked seven years as a System Engineer at Daimler-Benz Aerospace. He established studies for determining the risk (FMECA) in manned and unmanned space vehicles, and developed the propellant feed system for the upper stage of the European launcher rocket “Ariane 5”. Moreover, he prepared studies for the application of a hydrogen propulsion system in automotive vehicles.

On behalf of Ford of Europe, Dieter Schaffner introduced the “Ford Explorer” and “Ford Windstar” into the European market, and was responsible for establishing the requirements for vehicle service training.

From 1996 to 2003 Dieter Schaffner worked in a patent law firm in Munich.

Dieter Schaffner has been with Müller-Boré since 2003 and qualifed as a German Patent Attorney in 2006 and as a European Patent Attorney in 2011.
